Cul de Bouteille

The deep green of hand-blown glass.

A name inherited from the glassmakers themselves: "cul de bouteille", that dark, thick green of hand-blown bottles, imperfect and alive. Under a soaring ceiling, light glides across a creaking Hungarian-point parquet floor, all the way to the original fireplace that has seen a century and a half of winters.

Pierre de Silice

Silica, the base component of glass.

Silica is the base component of glass, the raw material once heated in the glassworks' furnaces before becoming a bottle or flask. This room keeps its pale, mineral tone, under the same soaring ceiling as its neighbour, where morning light falls unobstructed.
