A stone's throw from Épinac, the Arroux Valley winds between hedged meadows and oak woods. A greenway along the river (cycling), trout fishing, walks at sunset.

Anost Forest
One of the finest forests in the Morvan: fir woods, beech woods, ponds. Forest visitor centre (Maison du tourisme forestier) in Anost, waymarked paths (GR 13). Red deer and wild boar can be spotted towards evening.

Mont Beuvray (Bibracte)
A wooded summit of the Morvan, once the site of Bibracte, capital of the Aedui. A major archaeological site, open to all, with views over the Morvan and a fascinating European museum. Not to be missed.

Source of the Yonne
The birth of a river in a Morvan clearing, 730 m above sea level. An easy walk from the car park (1 km). A simple, almost mystical beauty.

Lac des Settons
The best-loved lake in the Morvan: a beach with facilities, lifeguarded in summer, canoe and pedalo hire, a path around the lake (6 km), a little tourist train. Ideal for families.

A vast, quiet lake, ideal for fishing, kayaking and hiking. Cycle round the lake (40 km), spectacular viewpoints. Wilder than Lac des Settons.

One of the finest landscapes in southern Burgundy: the rock rears up above the Pouilly-Fuissé vineyards. A path to the summit (1 hr there and back), prehistoric site (Neolithic horse hunts).
